Foshan is an historical city which is one of the "four renowned towns"of the Ming Dynasty, when it was known as the "Chan City". The city is famous for its sites, such as the Liang Garden and the Ancestral Temple, as well as its folk crafts. Shiwan ceramics and Foshan papercuts are particularly well-regarded.
